Petrobras has initiated the bidding process for the FPSO SEAP II, a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit that will be part of the Sergipe Deepwater (SEAP) project. The initiative aims to expand natural gas production and reinforce energy supply in Brazil, particularly in the Northeast region.
The FPSO SEAP II is designed to process up to 120,000 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The unit will also be connected to a 134-kilometer export pipeline, with 111 kilometers offshore and 23 kilometers onshore, enabling the efficient flow of gas to the national grid.
The vessel will operate in deep waters of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, covering the Budião, Budião Northwest, and Budião Southeast fields. These fields are operated by Petrobras in partnership with ONGC Campos Ltda.
Petrobras has set a local content requirement of 30% for the FPSO, reflecting its commitment to strengthening Brazil’s supply chain and generating regional economic development. According to the company, the unit is expected to begin operations by 2030, although this timeline may be advanced, as mentioned by Petrobras CEO.
The SEAP project is considered strategic due to the significant reserves identified and its potential to transform the gas and oil industry in the region. The increased supply of natural gas is also expected to drive industrial growth and energy security in the country.
